Betty Jane Ludwick, 83, of Niles, died 4:25 PM Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles. She was born January 26, 1923 in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of William and Edith (Johnson) Hurford, and had lived in Trumbull County most of her life.
Mrs. Ludwick served with the U.S. Marines during World War II, attaining the rank of Corporal and graduating from the Quartermaster School of Avaiation. She worked as a secretary at St. Joseph's Hospital, retiring in 1985 after 23 years of service. Upon her retirement, she and Gene moved to Palm Harbor, Fla. In 1991, she moved back to Niles. She was a member of the Marine Corps League.
Surviving are her children: Linda Jarvis of South Carolina, Janet Lee Nastasi of Niles, and David Ludwick of Cuyahoga Falls; five grandchildren: Kari, Galen, Dacia, Sherry, and Mark, stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany; and four great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Eugene Ludwick, who died March, 1991; a son, Jeff Ludwick, who died July 30, 1968; and a grandson, Bill Wilson.
Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at All Souls Cemetery, 3823 Hoagland Blackstub Rd., Cortland, Ohio 44410. American Legion Post 540 will lead the military honor guard. Interment at All Souls Cemetery will follow the service. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home.
