Betty A. Doersam, 77, of Leavittsburg, died Sunday, June 3, 2007. She was born December 13, 1929 in Warren, the daughter of William F. and Jane (Whitmore) McAdoo, and had lived in Trumbull County all her life.

Mrs. Doersam was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She was part of a group of women, known as the Venus Friendship Club, who have met regularly since 1946, when they were still in high school. She had worked as an executive secretary for Thomas Steel, retiring in 1990. She was a past division president of the International Associating of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) and was a member of IAAP since 1967. She served on the board of SCOPE, Inc. for many years, and was active as a bowler and leader in bowling leagues.

An active member of Second Christian Church in Warren, she had been board moderator and board secretary for many years. She had also served in the church as an adult and youth Sunday School leader, and had been secretary/treasurer for the Christian Women's Fellowship. She also participated in the Ohio Reads program at McGuffey Elementary School.

Surviving are her children: Karen (Robert) Petyko of Cedar Lake, Ind. and Diane (Chris) Klingemier of Hartford; four grandchildren: Eric and Nicole Klingemier, Robert Petyko, and Amanda (William) Thompson; three step-granddaughters: two great-grandchildren: William and Abigail Thompson; two step-great-grandsons; a brother, James (Lucille) McAdoo of Warren; two sisters: Evelyn MacKenzie of Warren and Geraldine Proper of Springfield, Ohio. Preceding her in death are her parents; her first husband, Virgil Penrod, whom she married December 9, 1950 and who died June 22, 1984; her second husband, Alvin Doersam, whom she married October 1, 1988 and who died May 11, 2004; and a sister, Delores Marchek.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Second Christian Church, with Rev. Gene Eason officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Second Christian Church.
