Benjamin James, 87, of Warren, died Monday, July 16, 2007 at Horizon Village Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 25, 1919 in Aberdeen, Mississippi, the son of John D. and Lillie (Vasser) James.
Mr. James served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired both from the sanitation department and as an auxiliary police officer.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel Louise (Smith) James of Warren; three children: Joan Baines of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Irmalee Darden and Benjamin James, Jr., both of Aberdeen, Mississippi; a stepson, Robert Sims of Cleveland; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister and a brother. His parents and several sisters and brothers precede him in death.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Oakwood Cemetery in Warren, with interment to follow. Friends may call 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home.
