Warren, Ohio - Ann K. Penman, 94 passed Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Shepherd of the Valley-Howland. She was born on May 21, 1922 in Elyria, Ohio, the daughter of the late Herbert and Beatrice Baisor Krider.
Ann was a member of the class of 1940 Warren G. Harding High School and in 1944 she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology at Hood College. She worked as a bank teller for the Bank of America in California and for the Unemployment Office in Warren before she devoted her life to becoming a homemaker and raising her family.
She was a very active member of the community. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and in the Red Cross learn to swim program. She was a member of AAUW, Trumbull County Historical Society, Adult Great Books, Fortnightly Church and Synagogue Library Association. Ann started the Jr. Great Books program in Howland Schools. She tutored with the Adult Literacy Program and at Alden Elementary. She was also active in her church as a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women, Keenagers, and served as the librarian at the George Flint Library for many years. Ann enjoyed knitting, giving book reviews, playing the piano, gardening, sewing, biking and doing crossword puzzles but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She instilled the love of books in her grandchildren. She loved reading and talking about books with others.

(Tammi) Penman of Warren, OH, daughter, Susan D. Penman of Carrollton, TX, granddaughters: Coleen and Alana Caraway, Lauren and Jillian Penman, grandsons: Jonathan (Faye) Penman, and Christopher (Megan) Penman, grandson, Benjamin Penman and great-granddaughter, Isabella Grace Penman,
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Penman, whom she married February 7, 1953 and passed away March 26, 2003; and sister, Janet Day Daugherty
Family will receive friends noon till 1:00pm Sunday July10, 2016, at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Warren. Services will be held at 1:00pm at the Funeral Home with Rev. Yesudas (Dan) Devadan, officiating.
