Andrew W. Fisher, 87, of Warren, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 10, 1922 in Gustavus, the son of Ivan and Mary (Gee) Fisher, and had lived in Trumbull County all his life.
A graduate of Kinsman High School, Mr. Fisher served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had worked as a farmer, and later as a stationary engineer at Republic Steel and Packard Electric, from where he retired. A member of Central Christian Church, he enjoyed flowers, gardening, cards, the stock market, the Browns, Buckeyes, Indians, and Scrappers, and most of all, greatly enjoyed his family.
Surviving are his wife, Leona (Swick) Stredney Fisher, whom he married January 20, 1990; a daughter, Suzanne R. Fisher; six step-children: Glenda Berlin and Gladys Strange of Warren, Terry (Lois) Stredney of Niles, Ken (Lisa) Stredney of Vienna, Nancy (Conan) Cupples of Wooster, and Charles (Sara) Stredney of Phoenix, Ariz.; sixteen grandchildren: Kathie (Al) Sadar, Richard (Shawn) and David (Delma) Strange, Doreen (Patrick) Ambrose, Jeff Strange, Kevin (Tina), Dan (Shannon), Paul (Shelly), Ed (Ashley), Adam (Elise), and Ryan (Amanda) Stredney, Christopher, Amber, and Hannah Cupples, and Colin and Nick Stredney; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Ted Fisher of Cleveland. Preceding him in death are his parents; his first wife, Mary M. (Darby) Fisher, whom he married June 4, 1948 and who died September 24, 1977; a son-in-law, Richard F. Strange, who died September 29, 2009; and a brother, Charles C. Fisher.
Services are 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2010 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with services conducted by his pastor, Rev. Dr. Darrell C. Filler. Entombment at Crown Hill Burial Park will follow. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Material contributions may be made either to Central Christian Church, 2051 E.
