Alice E. Genger Genger Daugherty

Alice E. Genger Daugherty, 98, formerly of Warren, died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Laurel Lake Retirement Community in Hudson. She was born February 25, 1914 in Curwensville, Pa., the daughter of Paul and Mary (Hipps) Harley, and had lived all her adult life in Northeast Ohio.

An accomplished musician, Alice had studied music at the Dana School of Music, played piano, sang soprano in many local churches, and belonged to the Warren Music Club. She had been a Red Cross volunteer, a member of First Baptist Church in Warren, and enjoyed her family.

Surviving are her son, David L. (Nancy) Genger of Conneaut; a grandson, Mark Genger of University Heights; a granddaughter-in-law, Vanessa Genger; three great-granddaughters: Melissa, Nicole, and Allyson Genger; a brother, Ben W. Harley of Warren; and two stepchildren, Sue Ann (Gary) Drean of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. and Phillips K. Daugherty, Jr. of Sarasota, Fla. Preceding her in death are her first husband, Paul T. Genger, whom she married December 30, 1933 and who died April 13, 1977; her second husband, Phillips K. Daugherty, Sr., whom she married in 1978 and who died February 28, 2008; a grandson, David L. Genger, Jr.; a sister, Julia Lewis; and a brother, William M. Harley.

Services are private. Interment will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice of Northeast Ohio, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Suite E, Uniontown, Ohio 44685.
