Alice J. Dueber

Alice J. Dueber, 77, formerly of Champion, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. She was born January 7, 1930 in Warren, the daughter of Arthur E. and Alice (Dunlap) Ready, and had lived in the area her entire life.

Mrs. Dueber had worked as a secretary with the Champion Schools for over 20 years, retiring in 1994. She was a long-standing member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where she had taught adult Sunday School, served as a trustee, was chairperson of the Administrative Council, and was director of the Women of the Bible production. She also belonged to S.E.R.O.

Surviving are her children: Larry E. (Debbie) Dueber of Warren, Kay E. (David) Verch of Champion, and Ross E. (Sandee) Dueber of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; five grandchildren: Adam (Amy) Dueber of Austin, Tex., Brian Verch of Howland, Gregory Verch of Champion, Nathaniel and Natalee Dueber, both of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; three great-grandchildren: Ciara and Arayna Seger, and Bryce Pinter; a sister, Ethel Badin of West Brandywine, Pa., and a brother, Rev. Charles (Joan) Ready of Columbiana. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Theodore E. Dueber, whom she married July 10, 1948 and who died May 1, 1997; a daughter, Lee Ann Dueber; a sister, Ruth Oliver; and a brother, Bud Ready.

Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 19, 2007 at Otterbein United Methodist Church, with Rev. Patricia Christ officiating. Interment will follow at Champion Township Cemetery. Friends may call 2:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, and 9:30 to 10:00 AM Monday at the church. Material contributions may be made to Shepherd of the Valley, 4100 N. River Rd.
