Irene Papas

Irene Papas of Niles passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 7:38 a.m. in her residences surrounded by her loving family. She was 95.

Irene was born on February 6, 1925 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late John and Katherine Benko Gayan.

Mrs. Papas enjoyed traveling on bus trips to various casinos throughout the area. Most importantly she cherished her family, especially the time she spent and memories she made with her grandchildren.

Her husband, Pete Papas whom she married October 23, 1954, passed away on April 19, 2002.

She is survived by 4 children, Pete (Connie), Charles, and Mary Kay Papas, and Patricia (Roy) Schroeder; 4 grandchildren, Ryan (Carly), and Kaitlyn (Tim) Schroeder and Alexa (Nick) and Gina Papas.

In addition to her husband and parents, Irene was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2020 in the Wm Nicholas Funeral Home & Cremation Services 614 Warren Ave. Niles, OH 44446. The Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:40 a.m.

Entombment will take place in Pineview Memorial Park.
